Minnivallalaekur River

Path: Home > Fly Fishing - Destinations > Iceland Fishing - Iceland Destinations

Minnivallalaekur is a legendary brown trout river in the South of Iceland. Trout between 8 and 12 pounds are caught each season on the river. The river runs slowly for a long distance, but the current in its lower reaches is stiffer.

Only 4 rods are permitted to fish the river at any one time and leased together.

The average weight throughout the season is a respectable 4 pounds.

The lodge, situated next to the river, has proved very popular with our clients. It sits on a bend of the river with a magnificent view of Mt. Hekla in the distance. There are four twin-bedrooms, two bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, dining room, sitting room, and a veranda with a jacuzzi.

Traveling time to the river and lodge is only an hour's drive from Reykjavik.

The season runs May 1 - Sept 15.
