Located on Quebec’s famous Gaspe Peninsula, the lodge offers Atlantic salmon fishing second to none. The modern lodge facility offers 5-star accommodations for a maximum of 12 guests for Atlantic salmon fishing. Camp Bonaventure is ideally located to allow guests the opportunity to fish three great Atlantic salmon Rivers from June through September. The Bonaventure, legendary for its water clarity and sight casting opportunities is fantastic for dry fly fishing. The Petit Cascapedia, the smallest of the three rivers is known for its clear picturesque pools holding big salmon and huge brookies. The famous Grand Cascapedia is noted for its run of large salmon where salmon in the forty-pound class are not uncommon. There are also some excellent trout streams nearby, which have good populations of wild brookies that range from 2 to 8 pounds for a change of pace. Your days on the river are enhanced by the experience and knowledge of the expert guides who have fished these waters for years and know where to put you over fish. Fishing is done directly from the Camp via canoe or by vehicle, depending which river is being fished. Fishing is done either from canoes or by wading depending upon the water conditions. Accommodations The main lodge has four double occupancy bedrooms with double beds, private baths and screened porches. The private guest house has two double occupancy bedrooms with double beds, private baths and screened porches. There is a private living room with a fireplace and bar area. Meals Gourmet breakfasts, lunches, dinners, hors d’oeuvres and snacks are included. We cater to guests with special dietary requirements. Travel Air There are several ways to travel to Camp Bonaventure. The closest airport is located in Bonaventure, QC, about 10 minutes from the lodge. The airport is served Monday to Friday by a local charter. This flight requires an overnight stay in Montreal. Air Canada provides daily flights from Montreal to Gaspé, QC and Bathurst, NB. The Lodge is a two-hour drive from both Gaspé and Bathurst. You can either rent a car or the lodge can pick you up and take you back for $225 each way. The lodge is equipped with a 1,920-metre (6,300-foot) paved landing strip to accommodate private aircraft. Train There is an overnight train from Montreal. The train is equipped with private bedrooms, a lounge car and dining car. The train schedule accommodates a full day’s fishing on your first and last days at the Lodge. The train schedule is favourable for anyone flying into Montreal as it is a late-departure train (approx. 6:30 pm). Return portion is early arrival at 8:00am which allows for relatively early flight departure from Montreal. Car The lodge is an easy drive from anywhere in Eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. We are about 11 hours from Boston, MA, nine hours from Portland, ME and nine hours from Montreal. NOTE: The Management Team of Camp Bonaventure has recently purchased "The Salmon Lodge", a 110 year-old historic lodge on the banks of the Grand Cascapedia.
