FlyCastaway going back to The Seychelles

06/29/2010

From FlyCastaway:

Seychelles Land Based Experience

There is no disputing that the remote outer atolls of the Seychelles offers some of the finest flats fishing on the planet, the diversity of species, quality of the ecosystems and spectacular beauty making them any angler’s dream destination. Due to the current ongoing threat of piracy in Seychelles waters, FlyCastaway had to cease all live aboard trips to the outer atolls as of March 2009. Since then the only safe options have been inner island charters or land based options. We have been receiving requests from anglers on a daily basis and have endeavored to find a safe land based solution to this very frustrating problem for the past 15 months. In light of this, we have been working in close cooperation with the Island Development Company (the body in charge of the remote outer atolls) to find a suitable option for anglers interested in visiting the remote outer atolls, whilst at the same time not exposing our guests to the threat of piracy.

Finally it seems all the hard work has paid off and we are happy to announce that as of February 2011 we will in conjunction with our partner in the Seychelles, the Island Development Company (IDC), once again offer adventure minded anglers the opportunity to fish the remote outer islands of the Seychelles! FlyCastaway has secured an agreement with the IDC to use existing land based infrastructure on Farquhar Atoll from where anglers can once again explore and fish the flats and surrounding waters of the atoll under the experienced eye of a FlyCastaway guide.

Situated 700km to the southwest of the main island Mahe, Farquhar Atoll is the most southerly atoll in the Seychelles chain. This diverse fishery consists of countless flats, channels and surf zones. The flats consist of hard white sand, turtle grass and broken coral which make for comfortable wading for a wide range of flats species. Onshore, Farquhar is best known for both its great GT and Bonefish populations but also offers fishing for Indo-Pacific Permit, Triggerfish, Barracuda, Milkfish, Bumphead Parrotfish & various other Trevally species. Offshore, anglers can come into contact with Grouper, GT’s, Dogtooth Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish and even Marlin on occasions.

To compliment the land based infrastructure we will be sending four new 17, 3 ft Angler skiffs out to Farquhar, all of which are perfectly suited for accessing the flats as well as unleashing the offshore opportunities that await there. There will be 2 or 3 anglers per FlyCastaway guide and skiff @ $7000.00 pp. The modest but comfortable accommodation can accommodate up to 10 guests in twin en-suite air-conditioned rooms.

At the moment we have the following dates still available, if these dates do not suite you please let me know when you would like to go and we will try to accommodate you elsewhere:

* 26 February - 5 March 2011
* 5 - 12 March 2011
* 19 - 26 March 2011
* 26 March - 2 April 2011
* 2 - 9 April 2011

Should you wish to join us on one of these expeditions or you would like more information please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing back from you!
