Bone Fishing Bahamas - Andros Island Bonefish Club Path: Home > Fly Fishing - Destinations > Bahamas Fishing Bone Fishing Bahamas - Built on the site of a 250-year-old English Sasil plantation, Andros Island Bonefish Club takes you away from it all and places you within a fly cast of some of the best fishing in the world. Located at the mouth of Cargill Creek, a 27-mile long fresh water stream. It is commonplace to take bones from 5-7 pounds, but on most days you will see at least one topping 12 pounds. In areas surrounding Andros known as "The Land of Giants" or "The Last Resort", anglers are frequently tested by the elusive bones that exceed 10 pounds. There are few places in the fishing realm where one can expect to find trophy-size bonefish in reliable numbers. Andros Island Bonefish Club rates as one of the very best locations. Accommodations are in spacious, comfortable air conditioned double cabins with private bath, refrigerator, 2 queen beds, ceiling fans, and plenty of room for all your tackle and belongings. The lodge well exemplifies the original Andros lodge experience as a comfortable but rustic haven for serious fisherman. Anglers' fish from Dolphin Super skiffs complete with pooling platforms, 40-hp motors and spacious casting decks. Captain Rupert Leadon personally leads and trains his competent staff of native guides. They are all highly skilled, experienced saltwater flats fishing guides. There are more than bonefish in this warm turquoise Caribbean Sea. Less than a mile to the east is a deep channel called the "Tongue of the Ocean, " which drops from shallow water to thousands of feet of blue water. From this channel, huge barracudas work their way into the flats. It is not uncommon to see cudas of 4 ft. or longer in water less than shin deep, and they will take a well-placed fly or lure. Feel like trying a little tarpon fishing? - that can be arranged also! |
